What massage here is (and isn't), and what we each agree to before we begin.
This is a plain-language overview of the consent basics for massage at Bells & Balance. At your first appointment you’ll also sign a liability waiver in person; this page helps you know what to expect before you arrive.
Massage therapy at Bells & Balance is provided for relaxation and general wellness. It is not medical treatment and is not a substitute for care from a doctor or other licensed medical provider. Kyle is a licensed massage therapist (LMT) and does not diagnose illness, prescribe medication, or perform any medical procedure. If you have a medical concern, please see your physician.
Your safety depends on what you tell us. Before your session, please share your health conditions, injuries, areas of pain, allergies, pregnancy, recent surgeries, and any medications you’re taking — through the intake form and in your pre-session check-in. Some conditions and medications affect whether massage is safe, how much pressure is appropriate, and which areas to avoid.
Keep us updated if your health changes between visits. How we protect this information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Based on what you share, Kyle may adjust the session, avoid certain areas or techniques, or — when massage may not be safe or appropriate (a contraindication) — decline to perform the massage and suggest you check with your doctor first. This is about your wellbeing, never a judgment.
By booking and receiving massage at Bells & Balance, you confirm that you understand massage here is for wellness rather than medical treatment, that you’ve disclosed your relevant health information honestly, and that you’ve had the chance to ask questions. This note works alongside the signed waiver and our Terms of Service.
